Goblin Ambush

A band of goblins springs a trap on the party. 1d6 with scimitars, 2d6 with shortbows (note: scimitar ones have 15 AC, shortbows only have 13)
Alternatively, 4d6 Kobolds if at night or in a shaded area.
Either way, once most of the force is slain, the creatures break rank and flee, leaving the dead.
They drop whatever weapons they have (scimitars or shortbows for goblins; daggers and slings for kobolds)
The weapons are in very rough shape, but the metal still has value. Goblin scimitars are worth 2g and cannot be repaired to greater value. Goblin shortbows are worthless, due to their shoddy craftsmanship. Kobold daggers are 50sp for the metal, slings are worthless.
