The striped bandits are a team of 3 thieves, stealing for survival. They have several approaches to the party. They will drop their loot and run if confronted. After the first encounter with the party, the party is likely to recognize whoever they interacted with, giving disadvantage on stealth or deception if they try to be the face again. In all theft attempts, it will be a stealth and deception check by the bandits vs the party's highest passive insight/perception. {| class="wikitable" |+ !D6 !Scam Plan ! |- |1 |"Good Samaritan" trap: the elderly member of the group lies in the middle of the road, feigning injury. If the party stops to help him, the other 2 try to steal from the party. They make a stealth check against the party's highest passive perception. On a success, someone loses a ration. If it's close (<5), they lose 3gp, but notice the thief. | |- |2 |"Do you know the path to...." trap: 2 of them walk up to the party, pretending to be fellow travelers. While the party is talking to them, the elderly member tries to sneak gold from the party. | |- |3 |The trio approach the party all at once, appearing to have forgotten to choose a plan. They then flee back into the wilderness, dropping a pouch of 12 gold in their scramble to flee. | |- |4 |"...Or the fat lady gets it" trap: They have "kidnapped" an 'innocent', demanding 10 gold for his release. | |- |5 | rowspan="2" |That night at dusk, they will try to sneak up to the party to steal from them in their sleep. Perception check from the watch contested by a stealth check from the 3. Contest is decided on the average of the stealth checks. | |- |6 | |} If the band is killed by the party at any point, this becomes a regular [[Highway Robbery]].
